Each stay request is reviewed before confirmation.
A 50% deposit is required to secure your reservation once approved.
The remaining balance is due 48 hours before check-in and will be collected from your payment method on file.
If payment cannot be processed, we'll reach out — you'll have 24 hours to update your details before your spot is released.
More than 7 days before your stay — full deposit refund.
4 to 6 days before your stay — 50% of your deposit is refunded.
Less than 4 days notice — no refund of your deposit.
If plans change, contact us as soon as possible. We accommodate when availability allows.
All dogs must be current on Rabies, Bordetella, and DHPP (or equivalent) prior to arrival.
Vaccinations must be administered at least 7 to 14 days before the stay.
Proof of vaccination is required before check-in and may be provided by your veterinarian via records or email.
Dogs must be on an active flea and tick preventative during peak season (spring through fall).
Confirm the preventative product used prior to arrival.
Dogs arriving with fleas or ticks will not be admitted. If discovered during the stay, immediate pick-up will be required.
We welcome both altered and intact dogs, provided they can be safely accommodated within the retreat.
Dogs under 12 months may stay without being altered. Breeding dogs may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
Female dogs in heat cannot be admitted.
Intact adult dogs may require a modified stay tailored to their temperament and handling needs. This may include separate outdoor time, individualized care, and placement under an enhanced stay option to ensure a calm and well-managed experience.
Dogs must be in good health at the time of arrival — those showing signs of contagious illness, including vomiting, diarrhea, or coughing, will not be admitted.
We are unable to accept dogs that show aggressive behavior toward people or other dogs.
Dogs recovering from recent surgery or experiencing severe separation anxiety may not be suitable for a standard overnight stay.
Each suite is thoroughly cleaned and reset between stays, with daily upkeep to keep spaces fresh and odour-free.
Longer stays include regular bedding refreshes and a full suite reset throughout the visit.
All cleaning practices are pet-safe, maintaining a comfortable environment for every guest.
Provide clear written instructions and properly labeled medication for anything required during the stay.
We assist with basic medications but may not be able to accommodate complex medical care or injections.
Notify us in advance if your dog will require medication during their stay.
If a dog becomes ill or injured, we will make every effort to contact the owner or emergency contact immediately.
If immediate care is required and we are unable to reach you, Active Houndz reserves the right to seek veterinary attention on your dog's behalf.
Any veterinary costs incurred during the stay remain the responsibility of the owner.
Owners must provide an emergency contact who can be reached if the primary owner is unavailable.
This person should be authorized to make care decisions on the dog's behalf if needed.
All first-time dogs must complete a brief Meet & Greet before their scheduled stay.
A reservation may be secured with the required deposit once approved. The Meet & Greet should be scheduled prior to arrival. This allows us to observe how your dog settles and confirm we're the right fit for them.
If the environment isn't the right fit, the stay will be cancelled and any deposit paid will be refunded.
Bring your dog's regular food, clearly labeled with feeding instructions.
We provide all suite bedding, bowls, and essential care items.
A small comfort item such as a blanket is welcome if it helps your dog settle in.
Personal belongings may occasionally be damaged or misplaced. We recommend leaving valuable or irreplaceable items at home.
